Kayakers Surfing Water-skiing

Water sports

Tranquillity of kayaking trips

Tourists who enjoy kayaking often seek the sober harmony of nature as well. Water sports often combine adventure with peace and quiet which is only broken by the sough of trees, rustle of bulrushes, and the splatter of waves against the kayak. The water mirrors the sky and trees, and in its depths one can perceive aquatic plants and life such as fish, crayfish and snails. Everything seems to work together. That harmony is also shared by people.

Such rivers do exist!

Old trees lean over the crystal-clear water and wild birds slowly swim out of the bulrushes. Our peacefully meandering rivers are full of charm, but they can also become quite wild and rapid. Northern Poland’s most picturesque kayaking routes of the Brda, Krutynia and Czarna Hańcza with their waterside hostels are waiting for you. The long evenings by the water are often spent discussing the phenomenal canals and waterways in Poland: about the Augustów Canal, its unique sliding facilities which transport boats overland, and about unusual crossings of waterways.

The choice for you is really rich: one can enjoy the fascinating Drwęca waterway and the Brodnickie Lakeland or the Drawa kayaking route and the Wałcz Lake District. Also very interesting is the Rega, rapidly carrying its waters towards the Baltic Sea. Amateurs of more hazardous adventures can try the mountain rivers of Dunajec and Bóbr, and those who enjoy winter kayaking may go on the Brda, Drwęca and the Wda.

The wind in your sails!

Those who have tried the sailing adventure on the Great Masurian Lakes will certainly return – again and again... Everyone appreciates the charm of Lake Śniardwy (114 sq km) with its eight islands and Lake Mamry (104 sq km) with its thirty-three islands, as well as the presence of dozens of other lakes linked by rivers and canals to form an extensive system of waterways (approx. 200 km in length). The lakes are surrounded by the “green sea” of the Piska Forest, which hosts a great number of tranquil little bays.

Sailors can stop at any of several dozen marinas, where they can find everything they might need. More and more wind-surfers are discovering the Masurian lakes. They also find excellent conditions at the Puck Bay and on the Baltic coastal waters near Łeba.

The Szczecin Lagoon (952 Sq km) is a real paradise for those who enjoy the wind and the water. The Baltic Sea is close at hand. A sailing training centre is located at Trzebień, where future sailors are taught the art of sailing on both the rough sea and on the quieter waters of the lagoon. Sailing on the lagoon, one can easily reach the Island of Wolin, the former site of the Viking stronghold and the Slav sanctuary of their pagan god Światowid. At present a large part of the island forms the Woliński National Park.
