Cycling trails in the mountains

Mountain biking is very popular in Poland. Cycling trails and bike hire centres are found in the majority of localities situated at the foot of the Polish mountains.

In the Sudetens, the summit of Mt Śnieżka (1602m) is the site of an annual event held in late August. At Karpacz, at the foot of Mt Śnieżka, the international rodeo meeting is organised in late September.

Practically all Polish mountain chains – the Sudetens, Beskids, Tatras and the Bieszczady – offer excellent conditions to mountain bike enthusiasts.

In the Bieszczady, for example, cyclists can ride on all slope paths and country roads except the high mountain hiking trails. Experienced bikers recommend a two-day trip along the San River valley from Berezka (Solina) to Terka (Solina) (approx. 40km) via Nasiczne–Zatwarnica. Good starting bases in the Bieszczady are located at Ustrzyki Dolne and Wetlina (Cisna).

The Beskid Sądecki region with Krynica and Rytro as its two comfortable starting points is very attractive for cyclists. Wisła is a good base in the Beskid Śląski, and Żywiec and Ujsoły are conveniently located in the region of the Beskid Żywiecki.

Within the framework of the Euroregion, on the territory of Cieszyn Silesia, there are many cycling trails which form an Euroregional loop of 220km with two border crossings at Bohumin/Chałupki and Bukovec/Jasnowice. The international trail is signposted with information boards and maps – located in the most important junctions of the cycling route.
