Słowiński Park Narodowy

The greatest attraction of this park stretching along the Baltic Sea coast (between Rowy and Leba) are the shifting dunes, which, while moving along, uncover dead tree stumps - the remains of timber stands covered with sand once long ago. The biggest dune is 42 m. above sea level. The lakes of Lebsko and Gardno are important refuges for water birds. Various plant colonies of the Slowinski National Park are of special natural value. They range from the pioneer plant species on the sandy beaches and dunes to the typical coastal pine woods, marsh plants on numerous peat bogs and lakeshore rushes and reeds. The park is inhabited by a number of precious bird species including the white-tailed eagle, eagleowl, cormorant, black stork, and many species of water birds.
