Babia Góra National Park
The park encompasses Mount Babia Góra (1725 m above sea level), the highest peak of the Western Beskid Range.
The woods here are very much like a primeval forest. The lower plant zone is dominated by fir and beech forest mixed with spruce and sycamore trees.
Spruce, mountain-ash and dwarf mountain pine predominate in the upper zones.
Next comes the alpine zone with its rare mountain plant species.
Hollows and gullies filled with rubble can be found in the top rocky zone.
The forests shelter a multitude of animals including bear, red deer, wolf and lynx; they are also a habitat for such rare bird species as the wood grouse, for example.
