Major tourist attraction
Splendid 19th century magnate residence built in mock-Gothic style. A large, Englishstyle park behind the castle known as the arboretum.
This small town lies southwest of Poznań. In the centre of Kórnik stands the neo-Gothic residence of several leading Polish noble families, which was converted and expanded many times. Its beginnings go back to the 16th century. Today it houses a museum collection of national momentos and artwork, an exposition of historical interiors and a collection of suits of armour in the Moorish Room. Kórnik is famous for its library, with a rich collection of valuable old prints and manuscripts, and for its arboretum. The ghost of the White Lady appears in the castle. The surrounding area, which has plenty of lakes, offers numerous vacation centres.
