This town in the Podkarpacie region, on the historical route linking Cracow with Przemyśl, includes a castle residence that is one of the richest in Poland. The castle belonged to the Lubomirski, Stadnicki and Potocki families. Build in 1629-1641, it was remodeled in about 1800 in the French neo-Baroque style. The state apartments, ballroom and other historical interiors are magnificent. The castle is surrounded by fortifications and an old park. An additional attraction of Łańcut is its exceptionally large collection of horse-drawn carriages. Music festivals are held here in May.
