Wolin National Park
The park occupies the western part of Wolin lsland.
It includes the morainic heights, which end with a picturesque, steep 95 metre high cliff at the seashore of the Baltic Sea and the Bay of Szczecin.
Here, the seashore continuously retreats because of the destructive action of the sea waves.
Almost the whole area of the park is covered with forests, the most valuable of which are the beech stands.
A group of lakes and sandy beaches are found in the southern part of the park.
The diversified plant cover is made up of many rare species of undergrowth, steno thermal and sand plants.
Among the wildlife are such rare species as the white-tailed eagle, Aquila pomarina and numerous species of water birds.
In the heart of the park there is a bison exhibition reserve.
