Major tourist attraction
European largest Gothic Teutonic Knights’ castle. The former seat of the Order’s Grand Masters. On the UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
This town lies just southeast of Gdańsk. the Gothic complex of defensive fortifications in Malbork comprises one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe. Malbork castle used to be the headquarters of the grand master of the Teutonic Knights. construction began in 1270 and continued for many years. the castle complex, reflecting in the waters of the Nogat River, an arm of the Vistula, comprises the following parts: the Approaches, the Low Castle, the Medium Castle, the Grand Master's Palace and the High Castle. Today it includes an exposition of historical interiors, an exhibition of weapons and an amber collection. Light and sound shows are also an attraction. The complex also houses a hotel, a restaurant and a conference centre.
